Renewals
Items may be renewed once for the same amount of time as the original loan period as long as there are no holds on the item. There are several ways to manage your account so that items do not become overdue.
- Renew in-person at Checkout.
- Renew online.
- Contact the Library at 847-587-0198
- Renew through the Library’s app.
- Sign up for email notification at the Circulation Desk. You will receive email notices for holds ready for pick up, and courtesy reminders for items on your account that will be due.
Some items are not eligible for renewal. Library renewals are not permitted if accounts carry a balance exceeding $25.00 or more or if your library card has expired.

Overdue Items
- The system updates items overdue 30 days to a “long overdue” status and the account is suspended from borrowing additional materials until the item is returned.
- Notices are sent at 7, 14, and 28 days.
- The system updates items more than 60 days overdue to a “lost” status and the replacement cost of the item is applied to the account.
- Items marked “lost” may be returned in good circulating condition within 6 months and the replacement cost will be waived from the account.
- The patron is still responsible for overdue fines.
Fines & Fees
The Library makes a reasonable effort to ensure that notice of overdue items is received, but it is sent as a courtesy, and failure to receive notice will not be cause for removal of fines.

Interlibrary Loans Circulation Policy
Interlibrary Loan services are reserved for Fox Lake Library District cardholders.
- Loan Period varies by lending library requirements.
- Renewals are not guaranteed and are subject to the lending library’s terms.
- Overdue fines are 10¢ per day.
- Lost or Damaged Fees are subject to the lending library’s terms.
- Limit of 5 Interlibrary Loan requests in process at one time.
- Use the form to request items.
