Program Attendance Restrictions

Attendance at library programs will be open to all residents of the library district. Attendance by non-residents of the library district will be welcomed only after all library district residents wishing to attend particular programs are accommodated.

Occasionally, variables such as class size restriction, limited availability of seating, fire department occupancy regulations, etc., may dictate that library program attendance be limited. Whenever possible in such cases, advance registration will be undertaken by the library, so that inconvenience of prospective attendees is limited.

Overall, attendance at library programs may be limited by the amount of parking spaces available in the library lot. Supplementary parking in the area of the library facility may be made available when a high level of attendance is anticipated at a given program; such arrangements will be published in advance library program publicity.

The library reserves the right to restrict attendance at juvenile library programs to children of certain age or grade levels, at the discretion of the Assistant Librarian for Children’s Services. Depending on the physical environment of particular juvenile programs, the Assistant Librarian for Children’s Services may also require parents and siblings to leave the program area, so that distractions may be avoided. Attendance of young people at adult library film programs may also be restricted, at the discretion of the librarian.
