Illinois state law (720 ILCS 5/16 “Protection of Library Materials”) prohibits the theft, unauthorized removal, mutilation, vandalism, and concealment of library materials, the non-return of borrowed library materials, and other offenses related to misuse of library materials, and prescribes the punishment for such offenses on conviction.
