The Board of Library Trustees encourages citizen involvement in library affairs through its sponsorship of a Friends of the Library group at the Fox Lake District Library.
A key purpose of the group is to foster awareness and support of the library in all segments of the community, through such activities as publicity campaigns, library card registration drives, book sales, sponsorship of special events, etc.
The Friends of the Library are non-profit and self-supporting, with all membership fees and other proceeds used to defray the cost of affiliation with national friends’ groups, and for the sponsorship of further programs and events.
The Friends of the Library will be coordinated by the Library Director, who will also serve as ex-officio advisor at all Friends group and committee meetings.
It is expressly understood that the Fox Lake District Library “Friends of the Library” group will not engage in the campaigning for the election of incumbent or prospective candidates to the Board of Library Trustees.
